Hey Ya'll!!! Here is a little bit about us.... We moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Dothan, Alabama in 2007. Yes! what a major difference! The Lord then allowed us to purchased a 22- acre property which we turned into Mt. Moriah Farms (in a matter of time:). So, here we are- Mt. Moriah Farms is a small, family farm located about 8 miles southwest of Slocomb, AL. We breed registered Nigerian Dwarf goats, milk our Jersey cow, occasionally raise several pigs for pork, attend to the honey bees, and hatch and rear up Black Australorp chickens. We have a small orchard including pears, figs, apples, peaches, grapefruits, lemons, limes, and satsumas. It takes a lot of cultivating year after year to get rich soil so we are very blessed with friends all over our area that allow us to come harvest from their gardens as well! We also have a small grove of pecan trees, a garden of assorted organic-Heirloom plants, and a garden of wildflowers for the honey bees to pollinate and get nectar from. The Lord has blessed us with seven children which we homeschool. Living on a farm has so many benefits for them. It teaches responsibility, time management, the importance of record keeping, and a lot more. Living in the country is definitely a blessing. We have learned that your "neighbors" are not just those living right next to you but basically everyone that lives in your side of town. If something is going on, everyone knows about it- kind of keeps you on your toes in a good way. When someone needs something, there are plenty that are willing to lend a helping hand. Borrowing and giving is common. It just seems closer to God out in the warm, sensational air of Alabama. These things are why we love our side of the world.
