OUR STORY:
My parents, Rick & Teresa Foster, purchased our original farm location, 25 acres of just pasture land, in 2007. My dad (Rick) designed and built our house and first chicken brooder shortly after.
Dad is from New Mexico and Mom (Teresa) is from Chicago. Some may say fate brought them together but we don't believe that. We know the Lord brought them together... Las Vegas, NV of all places is where they met! My dad (Rick) was in the military at the time and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. My mom (Teresa) had always liked to travel and was currently living there.
She has a huge love for children and was a single foster parent. Through a series of events my siblings and I came into her care the same year they met. They fell in love and married September of 2004. All of us kids (total of five at the time) were in their wedding. Teresa Becker now became Teresa Foster (God does have a sense of humor). Our bio mom then gave us all up for adoption and four girls & one boy (who were children in the foster care system) earned the new last name of "Foster" in July of 2005.
Dad and Mom decided that they wanted a better place to raise children up in. Long story short, the Lord led them to Dothan, AL to be the place! We moved down here in 2005, the house was completed in 2007, and the farm started in 2009. Of course we got chickens first and then a call came in about a orphaned bottle baby goat. That call led to more goats, honey bees, rabbits, dogs, cats, gardens, and finally cows followed a couple years after.
Mom has always been very creative and that character trait of hers is what started us into making products. Over the years we have added more and more and ceased others. Foster Parenting wasn't something that ceased. We added two more boys into the family to make for a total of 7 kids (Four Girls & Three Boys). We all had the privilege of being homeschooled . I am Mia, the second born in the family, and the farm is my passion!!! As I was growing up I had a huge interest in all the livestock. Over time I took more managemental positions, becoming head of all things outside animal wise and the goat milk soapmaker. In 2021 my parents decided it was time for them to retire and they sold the beloved farm. I now run Mt. Moriah Farms and raise the animals alongside with my precious baby boy, Remington. Our farm is still in Dothan, AL (just a different location) and Mom is still very active in making the products we sell! Abby (my second sister) will be seen at almost every Market/Event that we are at. She holds us all together! We certainly look forward to doing business with y'all!
Blessings,
-Mia [Foster] Scott
